Below is a quick explanation with the changes to the new energy rating classes that currently effect washing machines, washer dryers, dishwashers, fridges, freezers, fridge freezers and wine coolers.
For many years in the appliance industry the energy efficiency rating system has used A+++ to D which has added confusion to many appliances with the extra use of +'s. They have now simplified the rating system to A to G with also adding helpful information to the labels, such as the QR code at the top left corner and a better scale for water and electricity consumption.
Some of the new energy rating may seem like the new appliances have bad energy efficiency but the new labels can not be compared to the old energy labels.
The change have come in to affect from March 2021, but ovens, tumble dryers and hoods wont be effected till 2022
